A name synonymous with Good cinema, started his career in the literary field as a short story writer and playwright. Later he turned to films as a script-writer and is known as one of the most successful script-writers for commercial Malayalam cinema.
Films like Bharatham, Kireedam, His Highness Abdulla and Thaniavarthanam (which he wrote for director Sibi Malayil), were huge commercial successes and were critically acclaimed.
His first directorial venture, Bhoothakkannadi (1997), won him several awards, including the Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film of a director. Won the Kerala State Award for Best Story for Thaniyavartanam (1987), and Best Film & Screen Play Writer for Bhoothakkannadi (1997).
